Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
Game-Changing Strategies explains the reasons behind this puzzle and presents practical ideas on how established firms could not only discover new radical business models but also grow them next to their existing business models. The challenge for established firms is not the discovery of a new business model'the real challenge is how to make two business models coexist. This book offers advice on how established firms can implement structures and processes that make the new business model less conflicting and more palatable to the existing business.

Reviews provided by Syndetics
CHOICE ReviewMarkides (London Business School; All the Right Moves, CH, Jul'00, 37-6351), a highly respected expert in the field of strategy and innovation, discusses how companies can proactively and successfully introduce radical new business models while concurrently growing existing businesses. He uses the phrase "game-changing strategy" to describe ways to increase business growth and profitability in new and different ways. Markides differentiates business model innovation from product and technological innovation. The book includes many practical real-world applications of game-changing strategies from such well-known companies as Starbucks, IKEA, Southwest Airlines, Nucor, and Dell as well as 20 lesser-known business model innovators, e.g., Kingfisher Airlines, CavinKare, easyCar, and MinuteClinic. Although the topic is complex, the book is written in a clear, understandable style, and Markides incorporates numerous tables and figures to further clarify concepts and examples. Appendixes include useful information about ways to enhance corporate creativity and methods to measure relatedness between current markets and new markets. Notes and references provide valuable sources for readers interested in further research. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduate through professional collections. G.
